The new non-selective herbicide Terrad’or developed by FarmHannong has taken its first step into the oversea market. On April 4, FarmHannong launched Terrad’or ME(microemulsion) in Colombo, Sri Lanka with local partner Lankem. Lankem is the leading company at agricultural Agricultural industry in Sri Lanka founded in 1964. More than 180 people attended in launching ceremony which includes high officials from Sri Lankan government, main distributors, and farmers showing their enormous interest. Terrad’or ME was registered in Sri Lanka on in January 2019, as a non-selective herbicide for Pre-plant burndown treatment for paddy and non-crop field.
Terrad’or is a new Pyrimidinedione herbicide that inhibits chlorophyll formation in weeds and, generates active oxygen which destroys cells and shows fast herbicidal effect. Especially, as it is not harmful on human and animals, it can be used safely.
In Sri Lanka, rice is the largest cultivated crop, accounting for 45% of the total arable area. However, after 'Paraquat’ was banned in 2010 due to its toxicity to human and animals, which had been extensively used as Pre-plant burndown treatment for paddy, there was no way for farmers but to conduct tillage operation even twice.
Mindful of being sharp conscious of crop protection safety in Sri Lanka, Terrad’or’s successful registration means its safetiness.
Terrad’or shows an excellent control against problematic weeds, resistant to 'Glyphosate' and 'Glufosinate'. One time application of Terrad’orⓇ before sowing shall present outstanding control to even persistent weeds saving cost for tillage.
“Non-selective herbicide, Terrad’or, shows a prompt and powerful burndown efficacy, thus it will be a new effective solution to control weeds” emphasized Lee, Youjin, CEO of FarmHannong participated in lauching ceremony. He added “We are planning to expand Terrad’or business all over the world providing excellent convenience to control weeds effectively.”
Lankem states “We are pleased to introduce a non-selective herbicide Terrad’orⓇ which can improve agricultural productivity.” and “We appreciate to FarmHannong for firm support on Terrad’or’s launch in Sri Lanka."
FarmHannong has already acquired patents of Terrad’or in 29 countries including the US, Japan, China and Australia to tap into the world's non-selective herbicide market. Starting to launch in Sri Lanka, FarmHannong plans to initiate Terrad’or business consecutively for oversea market such as China, USA, Brazil, Australia and Southeast Asia.
On the other hand, in March 2019, FarmHannong established its local corporation in Kuala Lumpur for Terrad’or business. With the establishment of a Malaysian subsidiary, FarmHannong is operating four overseas subsidiaries, including USA, China and Thailand, and FarmHannong will continue to expand its oversea business base.
